What they are and how they work
Alcohol inks (3D diffusion pigments) are highly concentrated colours designed for epoxy casting resins. Due to their formulation, they create spatial formations and striking effects in the resin, which you will appreciate in jewellery and decorations.
Types of Inks
- LOW – usually a white component, heavier, sinks to the bottom.
- HIGH – the second white component, lighter, stays near the surface.
- Colour Shades – fill the middle layers, can be mixed together.
How to use
- Dropping into fresh resin – creates 'coral rods', tubes and clusters.
- Applying to a fully/partially cured surface – colour transitions, maps and subtle diffusions (pictures, clocks).
Recommendations for use
- Work in silicone moulds (easy handling and removal). Round moulds are popular for the so-called 'Petri' effect.
- Apply directly from the bottle or with a pipette for precise dispensing.
- For striking 3D structures, combine LOW + HIGH + colours in several drops and layers.
Caution: Too much ink can degrade the resin or prolong the curing time. Add gradually and test on a small sample.
Tip: For clean outlines, drip as close to the surface as possible and work within the recommended working time of the resin.
