How to create perfect castings

1. Preparation: rinse the mould with lukewarm water and mild soap, dry without leaving any fibres.
2. Mixing: prepare the resin according to the manufacturer's instructions; mix slowly to minimise bubbles.
3. Pouring: pour in a thin stream; a pipette or syringe will help with details.
4. Curing: observe the recommended times and temperature for your epoxy resin.
5. Finishing: After removal, the edges can be lightly smoothed with fine abrasive and polished if necessary.

Design Tips

• Half-&-half effect: Cast each half of the heart in a different colour or effect (mica, pearl, marbling).
• Glitter and metal flakes: Use sparingly – a thin layer adds sparkle without losing detail.
• Hole for ring: Can be drilled after hardening or a small eyelet/pin can be cast directly during pouring.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: lukewarm water + mild soap; do not use abrasives or sharp tools.
• Solvents: no aggressive cleaners; use isopropanol only exceptionally and wipe quickly.
• Storage: Flat, away from sunlight and without compression – for long mould life.
