How to create perfect castings
- Preparation: rinse the mould with lukewarm water and mild soap, and dry without any fibre residue.
- Mixing: Prepare the resin according to the instructions, mix slowly to avoid bubbles.
- Pouring: Pour in a thin stream; a pipette or syringe will help with small cavities.
- Curing: Observe the times/temperature according to the system; avoid localised overheating of the mould.
- Finishing: After removal, you can lightly chamfer the edges with fine-grit sandpaper.
Design Tips
- Transparent effects and mica/pearl stand out beautifully in small shapes.
- Glitters should be used sparingly – a little goes a long way in mini castings.
- For floral motifs, try dried mini flowers or gold flakes.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: lukewarm water + mild soap; do not use abrasives or sharp tools.
- Solvents: no aggressive cleaners; use isopropanol only exceptionally and wipe quickly.
- Storage: Flat, away from sunlight and without compression – for long mould life.
