How to cast in epoxy (cleanly and without bubbles)
- Before use: briefly rinse the pieces and let them dry thoroughly (moisture = bubbles).
- First layer: pour a thin, clear layer and allow it to slightly gel. Arrange the glass pieces with tweezers/a stick.
- Encapsulation: pour a covering clear layer so that the glass is completely covered. Work slowly to allow air to escape.
- Finish: after hardening, add a final clear coat for a perfectly smooth 'mirror' finish, if needed.
Design Tips
- Negative space: leave part of the surface clear – the iridescent refraction will stand out.
- Mix with pearlescent: a pinch of mica/pearl under the glass will add depth without losing the sparkle.
- Coaster Edges: First, arrange a thin rim, then sprinkle the centre with a finer fraction.
Safety and care
- Not intended for contact with food. Always pour into epoxy away from food surfaces.
- Work in gloves and according to the instructions for your resin. Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.
