How does luminous powder work?
Photoluminescent dye is produced by activating alkaline earth aluminate with rare elements. The dye produced in this way is capable of repeatedly absorbing light energy, then storing it and continuously emitting it in the form of light radiation for up to 12 hours (illumination time). The luminous powder then emits the absorbed light of the appropriate colour in the dark or in a place with insufficient light.
How long does the luminous powder glow?
The illumination time depends on the duration and intensity of light exposure of the luminous powder. When purchasing, refer to the illumination time, which is given in minutes. Quality luminous powders emit light for up to 360 - 720 minutes.
How long does the luminous powder emit its luminous effect?
Luminous powders have a lifespan of several thousand charge and discharge cycles. Their lifespan is more than 20 years. Lifespan depends on the conditions to which the powder is exposed. If the powder is embedded in resin, its lifespan will be maximised - it is not affected by weather conditions.
What are the colours of the luminous powder and the colours of the emitted light?
Luminous powder - photoluminescent pigment - is produced in several colour shades and emits different colours of light.
What is the required light intensity to charge the luminous powder?
Daylight
How big is the luminous powder?
The luminous powder is fine, and the grain size is given in microns. The grain size ranges from 5 to 75 µm (microns).
What quantity of luminous powder should I use?
Luminous powder is used in various concentrations depending on the desired brightness and duration of the luminous effect. Always follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of the material to which you are adding the glow powder. For example, the recommended amount for adding luminous powder to casting resin is 20–40%. Pay attention to the technical data, as adding a larger amount of luminous powder can change the technical, especially strength, parameters of the base material.
What materials can luminous powder be added to?
Luminous powders can be added to casting resin, plastic and varnish. Luminous powder will not emit light in dark, opaque materials. It is recommended to use luminous sand with a larger grain, which can emit light on the surface. For example, by sanding the material, you expose the grains of the luminous sand. Light can be applied to the luminous sand to charge it.
What are the health considerations?
Glow powder is harmless to humans and the environment. It does not contain any toxic or radioactive elements.
