Product detailed description
Casting epoxy resin DEKORA 20-24-950 clear UV++
DEKORA 20-24-950 is a clear casting epoxy resin designed for small decorative castings and design objects. It is ideal for making candle holders, small containers, crystals, spheres, pyramids, cubes, and blocks. Thanks to its properties, it is ideal for casting into silicone molds, but also for combining with wood and other natural materials that can be sanded and polished after curing.
The resin has a low viscosity, spreads very well with self-leveling, and self-degasses, which helps minimize the number of bubbles in the casting. After curing, it creates a clear, glossy surface that enhances the colors of pigments, glitters, and embedded objects.
Advantages of DEKORA resin
- excellent self-degassing – fewer bubbles in the final product,
- glossy surface after curing without the need for further surface treatment,
- low viscosity suitable for fine details in silicone molds,
- extended processing time – ideal for carefully arranging decorations and casting complex shapes.
Use of DEKORA 20-24-950 resin
- castings up to approx. 1–20 mm high,
- candle holders, small jars, and decorative containers,
- crystals, spheres, pyramids, cubes, and cuboids,
- small designer items and decorative objects,
- combination of resin with wood and natural materials, which can be sanded and polished after curing.
The resin is suitable for home hobby crafting as well as for small studios focusing on resin decorations.
Properties and Technical Parameters
- Type: two-component epoxy (component A: resin / component B: hardener),
- Optics: clear, glossy after curing, suitable for transparent and lightly colored castings,
- Density after mixing A+B: approx. 950 mPa·s,
- Mixing ratio: 100 : 40 (by weight, approx. 2.5 : 1),
- Recommended batch volume: approx. 0.5 liters,
- Maximum height of a single layer: approx. 1–20 mm,
- Hardness after curing: approx. 83 Shore D,
- Processing time: approximately 60 minutes (depending on ambient temperature),
- Curing time: roughly 24 hours (the lower the layer and the more stable the temperature, the more even the curing),
- Optimal processing temperature: 20–23 °C.
Pigmentation and Colouring
- for transparent coloring use special resins dyes,
- for opaque (covering) effect choose suitable resin pigments,
- glow powder, metallic powders and effects can be added to the resin,
- for shimmering effects, we recommend glitters and sparkles,
- for a natural look, you can encapsulate dried flowers, leaves, or other decorative elements,
- for original "marbled" or smoky effects, alcohol inks are perfect.
Important warning
- the temperature during mixing and pouring must not drop below 20°C – low temperatures prolong curing and can affect clarity,
- during curing, it is necessary to ensure stable temperature conditions without major fluctuations,
- always use precise weight measurements – volume measurement is not suitable, it can disrupt the correct mixing ratio,
- higher ambient temperature during curing can reduce the safe maximum height of a single poured layer – for larger volumes, it is better to pour in layers.
