Silicone Chess Mould Set Including Figures
Code: 30634

Product detailed description
What you'll find in the 'chess' set
- 16 figure moulds: 8× pawn, 2× rook, 2× bishop, 2× knight, 1× queen, 1× king.
- 1 chessboard mould: a square grid board ready for a single-colour cast or layer/segment casting.
Tips for the best result
- Mould cleanliness: remove dust and fibres before casting. You can lightly 'dust' the inside of the mould with mica powder for a pearlescent effect.
- Resin mixing: mix slowly to minimise bubbles. Dose the colour gradually – the pigments are very concentrated.
- Layer casting: we recommend layer casting for both the chessboard and taller figures; this allows you to combine effects and better control the exotherm.
- Removing bubbles: briefly 'blow' the surface with hot air from a safe distance, or use a fine needle to gently pierce them. Avoid overheating the silicone.
- Demoulding: wait for the resin to fully harden as recommended by the manufacturer; then gently 'peel' the mould off.
Design ideas
- Classic: contrasting set – e.g. clear with pearlescent vs. matte black with metallic powder.
- Premium look: transparent figures with embedded glitter, chessboard with marble veining.
- Branding: corporate colours, themed editions (wood/metal effect, neon, galaxy, smoke).
Silicone mould care
- Cleaning: Lukewarm water with a gentle detergent or a sticky lint roller. Do not use aggressive solvents or coarse brushes.
- Storage: Upright, away from sunlight and heat, free from harsh/reactive chemicals. Do not place heavy objects on the mould.
- Lifespan: It will be extended by the correct casting temperature and gentle demoulding without sharp tools.
Safety and environment
Work in a well-ventilated area and follow the instructions for the resin (gloves, skin and eye protection). The set is designed for hobby/craft use.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Is the set suitable for both epoxy and UV resin?
Yes, flexible silicone moulds are suitable for both technologies. For UV resins, pour in thinner layers and cure gradually to allow the light to penetrate the material.
How do I make two different coloured sets of figures?
Cast the figures in two separate colour mixes (e.g. light vs. dark). For the chessboard, you can use segment casting or layer the colours with masking.
How do I prevent bubbles at the tips of the figures?
First, lightly 'rinse' the mould with a small amount of resin, swirl it around the walls and only then add the rest. Slow pouring along the wall of the mould and short degassing of the surface will also help.
Do I need a release agent?
A release agent is not usually necessary for high-quality silicone moulds. If you are using a lot of fillers/glitter or very viscous mixtures, a light separator can make demoulding easier and save the mould.
How do I care for the mould to make it last?
Do not overheat the mixture, do not polish the inside with abrasives, and do not remove castings with sharp tools. Store straight and clean, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
