How it works
The pigment contains photochromic particles that switch between a colourless/faint state and a vibrantly coloured state when exposed to UV radiation. When removed from sunlight, the shade gradually returns to its original appearance.
Dosage and mixing
- Start small: a few drops for a smaller volume of resin (the effect is pronounced).
- Mix slowly and thoroughly to minimise bubbles and ensure the pigment is evenly dispersed.
- Use a small amount for a translucent look; for a stronger colour change, dose carefully, drop by drop.
Where it works
- Jewellery (pendants, earrings, rings) – a surprise effect when exposed to sunlight.
- Decorations – coasters, curtains, smaller objects placed by windows.
- Combination of effects – can be layered with clear zones, glitter or pearlescent (test compatibility first).
Tips for the best result
- Darker backgrounds enhance the contrast after illumination; retains a subtle appearance in the shade.
- Use a UV lamp or direct sunlight for a quick reaction test.
- Plan for thinner layers for jewellery – they activate and deactivate faster.
Warning: Long-term and intense UV exposure can cause the effect to gradually fade (photochromic fatigue). Do not exceed the dosage – too much pigment can prolong curing and reduce clarity. Always test on a small sample.
