Product detailed description
What is Stabilised Moss (Reindeer Moss)
Stabilised moss is a 100% natural material where the natural moisture has been gently replaced with a stabilising component. Thanks to this, it remains soft, flexible and colourfast for a very long time – without watering and without direct light. The dark green shade adds depth and an elegant, 'forest' character to projects.
Typical uses in resin projects
- Moss pictures and panels – a distinctive natural element for the interiors of homes, offices and commercial spaces.
- Designer clocks and logos – a dark contrast and plastic structure that stands out next to epoxy surfaces.
- Decorative accents – frames, inscriptions, smaller area fillings; moss is used as an uncovered natural contrast to resin.
Appearance, colour and natural variability
Each package contains tufts with slight differences in size, density and colour saturation. This variability is desirable and adds authenticity to the result. Before installation, spread the tufts out 'dry' and adjust the directions and transitions of shades.
Care and long-term appearance
- No watering or spraying required – stabilisation ensures long-lasting softness and colour.
- Indoor use – place away from direct bright sunlight and sources of radiant heat.
- Cleaning – gently blow off dust or remove with a soft brush.
Placement and limits
Stabilised moss is intended exclusively for indoor use. In resin projects, epoxy is not usually poured to preserve its softness and colour; it functions as a natural element next to epoxy parts.
Origin and careful harvesting
The material comes from Scandinavia and is subject to regulated ecological harvesting with respect for nature conservation. It is dyed and stabilised, intended for decorative use.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Does it retain its dark green hue in the long term?
Yes. Stabilisation helps to preserve saturation and flexibility. Avoid direct, harsh sunlight and high radiant heat to keep the colour vibrant for as long as possible.
Can I use the moss in the bathroom?
Yes, it thrives in higher humidity. Just don't place it in direct contact with water or hot steam.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
No. Stabilised mosses are designed for indoor use; their lifespan and colourfastness would be significantly reduced outdoors.
Can I cover the moss with epoxy resin?
We do not recommend it. Submerging it would reduce its softness and could affect the shade. The moss is used as a natural element next to the resin, not underneath it.
Does the moss have any odour or does it stain?
When used normally indoors, it does not smell or stain the surroundings. Work in a clean environment and avoid rubbing against textiles during installation.
How to store leftovers?
Store in a dry place, away from sunlight, in a resealable bag or box. Do not compress - it will retain its structure and flexibility.
It arrived compressed - what should I do?
The tufts may be compressed during transport. Let them ‘breathe’ freely and gently fluff them with your fingers during installation.
