How to Choose the Right Starter Kit

  1. Type of decoration: coasters (sets of 2–4), small trays and dishes, small castings (decorative shapes).
  2. Mould size and depth: lower casting height is typical for coasters; consider a larger volume for dishes and trays.
  3. Number of pieces in the pack: more moulds = faster series without waiting for curing.
  4. Additional tools: precise measuring cups, a non-stick mat and pipettes for pigments will make clean work easier.
  5. Surface and maintenance: high-quality silicone makes it easier to remove the casting and keeps the edges smooth.

What the set usually contains

A combination of silicone moulds (coasters, mini trays, small bowls), measuring cups and beakers with markings, stirrers and pipettes, sometimes even small pigments or glitter. Selected sets also include a mat for a clean work surface.

Quick guide for the first coaster: Prepare the mould and work surface → measure precisely and mix the resin slowly (scrape the walls of the cup) → pour a thin base layer → add decor (glitter, leaves) → fill to the desired height → prick bubbles with a skewer or briefly blow warm air from a greater distance → leave to cure according to the instructions.

Tips for a clean result

  • Mix slowly and pour in a thin stream – minimise bubbles.
  • Let the mixture "rest" briefly after mixing and work in a dry, dust-free environment.
  • Do not overfill the mould; any "burrs" after curing can be easily cleaned up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are resin coasters heat resistant? Resistance depends on the resin chosen. They are usually suitable for hot mugs; direct contact with hot dishes or ovens is not recommended.
Are castings suitable for contact with food? Without a certified final surface, they are not intended for direct contact with food. Use them as decoration or coasters.
What if bubbles form? Work in thin layers, let the mixture stand briefly after mixing, bubbles will also be released by light heating with air from a greater distance or piercing with a skewer.

Note: The specific contents and number of parts vary depending on the set – please refer to the description of the selected variant.
