Drying flowers for resin, decorations, and jewelry

Properly dried flowers are the foundation for beautiful resin jewelry, paintings, paperweights, and other decorations. In this category, you will find silica gel for gentle flower drying and moisture indicators, which will help you easily check if the environment is sufficiently dry and safe for storing dried materials.

What you will find here

  • Silica gel for drying flowers – with or without an indicator, suitable for repeated use after drying in the oven.
  • Moisture indicator strips – a simple visual indicator that changes color to reveal if the environment is sufficiently dry.
  • Other aids for safe storage and preparation of flowers before casting in resin.

How to dry flowers in silica gel

  1. Prepare a clean container with a lid and pour a layer of silica gel onto the bottom.
  2. Gently place the flowers on the silica gel so they do not overlap, then carefully cover them with another layer of silica gel.
  3. Close the container and leave it in a dry place. The drying time varies depending on the type of flowers – usually a few days.
  4. To check the environment, you can place an moisture indicator in the container or nearby. As soon as it indicates increased humidity, it's time to regenerate the silica gel.

Tips for the most beautiful flowers

  • Choose flowers when they are at their most beautiful – ideally dry, without dew or rain.
  • Lightly clean the flowers and remove damaged petals before placing them in the silica gel.
  • Store dried flowers in a dry and dark place, preferably with a silica gel sachet, to maintain their colour for a long time.
  • Before pouring into resin, allow the flowers to acclimatise at room temperature for a while – this reduces the risk of condensation and bubbles.

Thanks to proper flower drying, you will obtain beautiful, colourfast material that will look like freshly picked in resin. Choose from our range of silica gel and indicator strips and give your projects the best foundation.
